Ok Wicked Sims has been open for two years now and we have had an insane number of people registering with false/incorrect info, never getting their confirmation emails (which means inactive accounts), or having general problems logging in. I just went through and activated accounts for hundreds of people that never got their confirmation emails, i also deleted accounts that had incorrect emails and hadnt been activated yet.
If you are having problems, this thread is for you.
Registration ----When you are registering for wickedsims, please make sure to type slowly and double-check that everything you typed is correct. Please make sure to use a valid email address since you will need to check that email to get your account activated. ---Many people accidentally type their email address wrong and don't even realize it. Common mistakes are "yaho0.com" or "hitmail.com" or "gamil.com" ---Try to use a reliable email provider. AOL/AIM/HOTMAIL are known for never giving people important emails (like account activation emails you need for forums and other things you signed up for) so we dont allow anyone to sign up using them anymore. If you try to sign up using an AOL/AIM/HOTMAIL email address you should get an error message telling you "invalid email address--choose a different provider" or something like that. Yahoo/msn are slightly better, but still have issues sometimes. Gmail would be the best option or your internet provider (sbcglobal, comcast, rr, etc) --Over the past two years there have been several email providers that have refused to send our emails to all of their clients that have signed up here, I got tired of this because it just meant hundreds of inactive accounts and people wondering why they cant login here and our email server getting clogged up trying to send emails and reminder emails to providers that block them. In order to stop this, there is now a registration ban on the following email providers: aol, aim, hotmail, inbox.lv, vip.hr. If you try to sign up using any of these email providers, you will be told to use a different email address. I'm sorry, I hope you guys understand why I did this --Make sure your CAPS LOCK is off. I have no clue why you would turn it on in the first place, but make sure it is turned off when you fill out the form.
Logging In ---Make sure you are typing your username and password correctly. Make sure the caps lock is off. ---If you cant login, try the reset password option. ---Once you successfully login, make sure to take a minute to fill out your profile, and make sure to write up a secret question/answer for when you're having password problems. ---If you are using Firefox, have it remember your password for wickedsims (if you are not sharing your pc with others). This way you are unlikely to run into login problems
Membership ---If you go a few days without getting your account activation email from wickedsims, check your spam/junkmail/trash folder for an email that says Wicked Sims somewhere in it (it should say it in the sender or in the subject, i cant remember which) ---Try signing into the forum with the username/password you signed up with--I might have activated your account for you and you just didnt get the reminder email (not our fault, its your email providers fault). ---If you decide at any point in time you no longer want an account here, don't just abandon it!! Sign in, go to your profile, and look on the left-hand side of the page, you should see "delete this account". Click on that. This will get your account deleted and ensure that you no longer receive emails from WickedSims (and will free up space in our database).
If you continue to have problems with registering/logging in please email me at jessica@wickedsims.com so I can help you out.
